Next Theology on Tap to focus on spiritualityMay 15, 2008Young adults will have a chance to reflect upon spirituality at the next Theology on Tap event to be held on May 18 at Sweet Fannies in Sioux City. Jessica La Fleur Malm, director of youth and young adult ministry in the Diocese of Sioux City, said the topic of the gathering is Foundations of Spirituality. It will be presented by Father David Hemann, pastor of Sacred Heart in Ida Grove and Our Lady Good Counsel in Holstein. The May 18 event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with fellowship, followed by the speaker at 7 p.m. and questions at 7:30 p.m. Fellowship will continue at 8 p.m. The sessions are intended for all young adults in their 20s and 30s-married or single, with children or without, Catholics and non-Catholics. This is the second Theology on Tap session presented in the diocese. The first was held April 20 at El Fredo's Pizza and it drew a bigger crowd than expected. "In my heart I had prayed for 30-40 attendees, and the Holy Spirit sent us 60," said La Fleur. She has found the Theology on Tap sessions to provide an attractive format to young adults "because it brings the church to the people, as well as encourages faith sharing in a casual environment." Sweet Fannies is located at 1024 4th St. While there is no cost to attend, attendees are responsible for the purchase of their own food. La Fleur mentioned that they would like for all food to be ordered by 7 p.m. After the May 18 gathering, the next is slated for this summer. It will be held on July 6 at Trinity Heights in Sioux City. The speaker will be Father Mike Erpelding of St. Joseph Parish in Sioux City, and the topic will be Evangelization Today. There is no need to pre-register for the gatherings. |
