How do Catholic schools help your children learn about the good news?

Jan. 25, 2007

"As students, parents and visitors to our Catholic Schools, we witness good news through the Christ like examples of everyday living in our priest, sisters, administrators, teachers, coaches and staff. This is the most important lesson learned and received from our Catholic School system. We are blessed with exceptional people who live the gospel message as examples to all of us." - Verne and Judy Reding St. Joseph Parish, Wesley, parents of a Bishop Garrigan High School and Seton Middle School student, Algona

"The Spalding Catholic centers in Granville, Hospers and Alton fairly hum with excitement about the "good news." These students learn - and believe - that the good news of Jesus Christ is alive! The children pray, sing, share and celebrate Christ's love on a daily basis. Our teachers, administrators, staff and parents work hard to ensure that Spalding Catholic continues to provide "the good news in education." - Laurel Davis of Paullina, parent of Spalding Catholic Grade and High School students

"Catholic schools make time for our children to learn about our beliefs. Our children have all done extremely well academically thanks to the great Catholic School teachers. We feel that our Catholic School teachers are able to give more one on one time with the students. Catholic schools also teaches students the morals and values of kindness and respect." - Ken and Kim Boysen and family, Danbury Catholic School, Danbury

"Catholic Schools help my children learn about the Good News through everyday hands-on experiences in their Catholic faith. Weekly Eucharistic celebrations, and daily prayer all within a Catholic environment strengthens their relationship with God and others.Visits to the nursing home, bake sales, penny wars and other service activities exemplify their concern and love for their neighbors in need and in turn- God. Loving God and your neighbor is the Good News put into action in our Catholic Schools!" - Cherri Johnson, Parent Club President, Kuemper Catholic Schools, Carroll

"The atmosphere of a Catholic School demonstrates respect and common courtesy every minute of every day. In that manner the basics are there; the foundation on which to build our atmosphere of Christian education. The students are living their religion, not just learning it." - Carol Mann, parent of St. Edmond student and two graduates, Fort Dodge

"Our children learn and practice this on a daily basis due in part to the large influence from attending Gehlen Catholic School. They learn this on a regular basis each and every day. From opening each morning with a prayer, to attending Mass several times a month, to having their faith practiced every day in and out of school. They are encouraged from each and every teacher, staff member and volunteer at Gehlen, and other students to learn all they can and to follow what Christ would have them do, not only for themselves, but also for others. They learn this through the many ways they volunteer and help other organizations as well. From Feeding the Hungry, to Mission Honduras, the care packages made for shut ins, and many, many other things they do through out the year for the benefit of others in our area, as well as other countries. They learn by listening to the word of Christ daily, to practicing what Christ would have done daily, and from the actions of everyone in Gehlen Catholic School daily." - Stevette and Scott Linden, parents of Gehlen Elementary students, Le Mars

"Students are in an environment which enables them to continually observe the good news as they watch teachers and fellow students making sacrifices to help others. They are taught by example to practice good Christianity." - Rose Krier, Remsen St. Mary's parent

"It is the people in our Catholic schools that provide witness to our Lord. The faculty, clergy, and fellow families daily teach the good news by their examples, their priorities, and their genuine loving care. We are grateful to be able to surround our children with such goodness." - Julie Schiltz, parent of Mater Dei School student, Sioux City

"Attending Catholic Schools help our children to grow in their faith and spirituality. It helps them to develop into better people and leaders in our communities as they mature into young adults and finally into adults having families of their own. The Good News they receive in Catholic Schools goes a long way in our children's lives and in our communities." - Joe Zenkovich, parent of Sacred Heart student, Spencer
