What's the good news about your school?Jan. 25, 2007"I like Sacred Heart because I like my teachers and my principal. And my favorite things to do is math, library and art. And my favorite recess is the last one. Because after that we have math. And at recess my favorite thing is to make new friends and then play with them. And I like to learn about Religion. And that is why I love Sacred Heart School!" -Rylee Runyan, second grade, Sacred Heart School, Boone
"At Kuemper Catholic High School, spiritual, moral, social and intellectual aspects of every student is the number one focus. As a student at Kuemper, I have learned how to use my religion and spiritual beliefs to be a central part of my life and how to be a valued contributor in society. With the six pillars of character as a focal point, my school has an outstanding atmosphere for challenging each person academically along with setting students on the right path. Kuemper is a wonderful cornerstone to the beginning of every student's life and with its strong emphases on volunteering every student gets a well rounded view for his or her future." - Zachary Riesberg, senior, Student Council President, Kuemper High School, Carroll
"Emmetsburg Catholic School teaches many good Gospel values. Every Wednesday we go to church with our prayer partners. Since there are smaller classes we get more one on one time with our teachers. Monday mornings we all go to prayer service. Then we learn many different new Gospel values that can help us in our every day life. " - Brooke Engstrom, eighth grade, Emmetsburg Catholic School
"I have an awesome teacher who makes learning fun. We get a good education here. We don't have locks on our locker and you can be in the same school with your brothers and sisters no matter what grade they are in. We can bring bibles to school and learn about Jesus and the Church." - Nick Johnson, third grade, St. Edmond Elementary, Fort Dodge
"The education we receive at Gehlen Catholic School provides us wisdom versus knowledge. If a student only has knowledge, then he/she only has the facts. When a student has wisdom, he/she can use the facts to make a change in the world around us. All of the decisions and wisdom we receive go back to our faith. The only thing that matters in the end when we die is that we have a strong faith and used the wisdom of our faith to make the world a better place. I have been on trips to other schools for National Honor Society, Fine Arts, and much more. I have observed that other students do not practice their faith as much as we do at Gehlen Catholic. Those students have been taught religion; but they do not live their faith. I have seen my classmates practice their faith at Mass and through their daily lives through Mission Honduras, Kids Against Hunger, Gospel Mission, helping others who are sick, and more. My classmates and I do not just recite what we have learned, we truly live it." - Thomas Henrich, senior, Gehlen High School, Le Mars
"Class size is a good thing. We have smaller class sizes so that the teachers can help us with more things. When we have inside recess we can all play together all sorts of games, like board and card games. We have mass every Friday. For Catholic Schools Week we are able to meet other Catholic school kids which is a lot of fun." - Maggie Hallman, fifth grade, Pocahontas Catholic, Pocahontas
"The good news about Remsen St. Mary's is summed up in two words, the teachers. They take the time to make sure you understand everything, even when they may want to be somewhere else. They truly care about your success in life and help you out to the best of their abilities. I feel this makes St. Mary's Schools a notch above the rest." - Christopher Moritz, sophomore, St. Mary's High School, Remsen
"At St. Patrick's we are blessed with small classes and teachers with big hearts. Our faith is renewed everday through our religion classes as well as participation in weekly liturgies. We have many opportunities to share the good news with the community through our service projects. We love to interact with the students here and have many chances to spend time together preparing and performing programs, musicals and liturgies." - 8th grade students, St. Patrick's, Sheldon
"That we get to learn about God and worship Him. To know that Jesus died for us so that we can get to Heaven." - Angeline Vanle, fourth grade, Holy Cross School, Sioux City
"Our teachers really know you. They'll be there for you if you need them. If you go to St. Mary's, you'll know everyone and everyone will know you. At St. Mary's you can be in all kinds of sports and extra-curricular activities. You can be friends with anyone and everyone. We also have the best homemade meals every day." - Dillan Smith, sixth grade, St. Mary's Middle School, Storm Lake |
