ALGONA - A one-man show is expected to bring a huge impact to parishioners in the Algona area.

Play actor Frank Runyeon will come to St. Cecella Parish on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. The Hollywood actor, who has appeared in more than 1,000 television shows over the past 20 years, present his "Sermon on the Mount" show followed by "Hollywood vs. Faith."

"He didn't like the Hollywood scene so he went through seminary school," said Darcie Kramer, director of faith formation at St. Cecelia Parish. "Most of his stories are from personal experience that he has dealt with while living in Hollywood as an actor."

Runyeon travels all around the United States doing his show, he is an honors graduate of General Theological Seminary and Princeton University, he has starred opposite Meg Ryan in, As the World Turns. Other shows he has acted in are: General Hospital, LA Law, and Melrose Place.

"I received a whole bunch of flyers and finally looked at them and I wondered who this guy is. Other people said he was wonderful and easy to get along with and very worthwhile," said Kramer.

His Sermon on the Mount includes the Lord's Prayer, the Golden Rule and other stories from Matthew's point of view.

Kramer said, "He takes it more from Matthews point of view and it kind of puts everyone from the audience in his situation"

His Hollywood vs. Faith touches on the struggle to live as a Christian in the age of media in Hollywood. Kramer would like everyone to walk away with a better understanding of the Bible.

"He makes it a little bit more meaningful for them, said Kramer, "and the Hollywood vs. Faith is really good for talking about values and what our lives are like today. How can we live our faith through some of what we see on TV?"

To purchase tickets, contact Darcie Kramer at (515) 295-3435. It is $15 for angel seating (reserved seating in the front of the church), and $5 at the door, first come first serve. This event is open to the public.
