Catholic colleges, universities to visit diocesan high schools

The 45th Annual Catholic College Week will be held Sept. 6 to 9 in the Diocese of Sioux City. Each day, Catholic colleges and universities will visit two of the eight Catholic high schools of the diocese.

The visits provide an opportunity for area high school students to check out the benefits of education at a four-year Catholic institution.

Representatives from the following Catholics institutions from the Midwest will visit the Catholic high schools of the diocese:

After visiting representatives from these Catholic colleges and universities, the high school students are encouraged to schedule a campus visit. Students should check with their guidance counselor for more information regarding Catholic College Week.

Questions to ask during a campus visit:

(c) What activities and services are available to help students get settled (academically and socially) during their first year?

(c) How big are the classes?

(c) How easy is it to meet with faculty?

(c) (Ask students) Are you able to register for the classes you want?

(c) What is the total cost of attending the college?

(c) Are all freshman assigned an academic counselor?

(c) Where do most freshmen live?

(c) Can I take a tour?

(c) What types of financial aid does the college offer and how do I apply?

(c) What activities are available for students?

(c) Who teaches the courses for first-year students?

(c) How successful are the college's graduates in finding jobs?

(c) What services (such as transportation and shopping) are available locally?
