New St. Rose of Lima ChurchSeptember 1, 2005
St. Rose of Lima Parish in Denison celebrated its first Mass in the new church on Aug. 28. Mass began in the old church with the Liturgy of the Word. Following the homily, Father Edward Murray, pastor at St. Rose of Lima, along with the congregation, processed to the new church. A group of seven Knights of Columbus led the way followed by two statues from the old church that will now be in the new, a portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe, people carrying bouquets of roses and Father Murray with the Blessed Sacrament. Once in the new church, the statues and the portrait were put in their new places. Then the offertory gifts were brought up and the Mass continued with the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Around 900 people attended the Mass. A social with coffee and cookies was held in the parish hall after Mass. (Globe photos by Katie LeFebvre)
