Support the Catholic Communication Campaign

May 12, 2005

Dear Friends in Christ,

As Christians, we are called to share the Good News of God's redemptive love for each and every one of us. This is the cornerstone of our faith; as such, it shapes our views and guides our steps. Our Lord calls upon us to "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). How do we do that in today's world? For over twenty-five years, the Catholic Communications Campaign, in partnership with our diocesan communications office, has been a significant voice in the media: educating, entertaining, inspiring and informing the public about Gospel values. The Catholic Communication Campaign plays an important role in our society. It merits our continued support.

This year's collection date is May 14-15, 2005. Since 50 percent of your contribution to the CCC annual campaign stays right here to support our own local projects, your generosity has a direct effect here at home.

The remaining 50 percent supports CCC's recent activities nationwide:

* Catholic Bookmarks is a new 30-minute radio show that offers a Catholic sensibility of current books and features authors discussing their work. The show will include the Catholic Book Publishers' Associations' weekly top ten best sellers list.

* Faith Works: In the USA, a one hour special about individuals living out their faith in unique ways, is airing on ABC stations.

* "La Familia Unida Esperanza en la Vida" TV and radio announcements continue to run on 450 Spanish language stations, including Univision and Telemundo, reaching over 28 million Hispanics.

* Parishes, dioceses, and individuals can click on the CCC web site for streaming video programs highlighting such topics as Native American Catholics, the spirituality of the dying, socially responsible investing, as well as breaking news and interviews with newsmakers.

I invite you to visit the web site: wwwCatholicCommunicationCampaign.org and to explore all the materials available to you and your family. Finally, I ask that you make a generous contribution to this year's collection. With your help, the CCC will continue to proclaim the Good News each and every day. May God bless each of you.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

Rev. Msgr. Roger J. Augustine
Diocesan Administrator
