Why do you keep coming back to service as a catechist?September 16, 2004"I come back for the joy the children have, especially when they are learning about Jesus. I also like to help others share their gifts. Many parents help with our Christmas Pageant." Margaret Lilla, 1st grade catechist, Carroll Area Religious Education Program "As a parent, I know the importance of support and participation in my children's activities - religion being the most important. Teaching religion is a learning experience for teachers and students. I enjoy working with the young adults." LuAnn Cook, confirmation teacher, Sacred Heart, Early/St. Joseph, Schaller "I believe the Lord is calling on me to share my love for Him and for our Catholic faith with our young people. I want Jesus to become so real to them that they will know they have a really true friend who loves them more than anyone else ever could. My prayer for them is that they come to know Him as a trusted friend who is walking with them at every moment of every day, guiding them and leading them as they journey through life, helping them to become the person God created them to be and to be in the place He intended for them." Pat Montange, St. Michael's, Kingsley " I was blessed with a good Catholic background and I want to help arm these young people with a strong faith in God before they head out into the world that is so full of evil ways and uncertainties." Kay Brown, 10th grade catechist, SS Peter and Paul, West Bend "Celebrating Mass with the young people where Father really "gets in their face" and talks to them honestly about issues that affect them today. By sharing my faith and knowledge of our Catholic religion, I not only teach my children and others, but they in turn help me to be a better person. Finally it does take time to prepare the room and lessons each week, but it's also fun being with the kids - they keep me "young at heart"."
