Purchase bishop's dinner tickets now

Tickets are now on sale for the 8th Annual Bishop's Dinner for Catholic Education. The dinner, featuring Bishop Dennis M. Schnurr, Bishop of the Diocese of Duluth, Minn., will be held Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Sioux City Convention Center. The social hour begins at 4:30 p.m. with dinner served at 5:30 p.m.

Bishop Schnurr was born in Sheldon, Iowa and raised in Hospers. He was educated in Catholic grade and high schools and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Sioux City in 1974. In addition to a number of assignments in the Diocese of Sioux City, Bishop Schnurr served in a number of prominent roles in Washington, D. C. for the United States Catholic Conference and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. He was ordained the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Duluth in 2001. He will speak to the strengths of Catholic schools and the role his education has played in his emergence as a leader of the Church in the United States.

Five teachers will also be recognized at the bishop's dinner for their notable contributions to Catholic schools.

The Bishop's Dinner for Catholic Education is the major fundraiser for the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sioux City. Tickets, priced at $125 each, may be purchased by calling the Chancery office at (712) 233-7524 or by mail at:

Attendees are urged to purchase their tickets early because of the interest in the appearance this year of Bishop Schnurr.
