Bishop's Dinner tickets

Tickets are now on sale for the 6th Annual Bishop's Dinner for Catholic
Education. The dinner, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, will feature the Honorable
Jim Nicholson, Ambassador Nicholson, a native of Struble, says his return to Northwest Iowa serves as a welcome homecoming. He grew up on a tenant farm 50 miles north of Sioux City before leaving to fulfill an appointment to the U. S. Military Academy at West Point. After serving in Vietnam, the decorated veteran earned a master's degree in public policy from Columbia University in New York and a law degree from the University of Denver. He practiced law in Denver for several years before founding Nicholson Enterprises, a developer of master planned residential communities. In 1987 he bought Renaissance Homes, which has become a nationally known builder of custom homes. In 1986 he was elected committeeman from Colorado for the Republican National Committee. He was elected vice-president of the RNC in 1993 and later was chairman. On Aug. 10, 2001 he was sworn in as the sixth U.S. ambassador to the Holy See. A number of teachers will also be recognized at the Bishop's Dinner for their notable contributions to Catholic schools across the diocese. The Bishop's Dinner for Catholic Education is the major fundraiser for the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sioux City.
