Memorial to diaconal service
Connie Maher and her son, Marty, light a candle in memory of Deacon Joe Maher. A memorial service was held as part of the deacons annual retreat in the Diocese of Sioux City to remember those who have passed. The service honored six deacons - Maher, Charles Bensman, Glenn Heisterkamp, Mark McGuire, Dr. George Spellman and Joseph Thompson - and four deacon wives - Isabel Hart, Ann Sands, Doris Weiler and Florence Westendorf.
