I think my call to the priesthood was there all the time, but it wasn’t until my college days that it became clear to me that this was something I should follow. Did anyone or anything provide you with inspiration to follow the call to priesthood? Without question, the priests on the faculty of St. Edmond during my high school years were of great inspiration and support. My parents and family were of great support throughout the years and encouraged my vocation. Was it a difficult decision to make? Yes and no. I just remained open to the possibility throughout the process of making my decision. What do you enjoy most about being a priest? I enjoy celebrating the sacraments with the people. They allow you to be part of the life of families in a very unique way. Are there any particular devotions or prayers that are dear to your heart? Reading Sacred Scripture, celebration of the Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours. Why do you find priesthood to be a worthy vocation? There is nothing else that can compare to it. No two days are ever the same. Helping, supporting and forming the local faith community is a very noble enterprise. What would you say to a young man considering a vocation to the priesthood? Always remain open to God’s call. Each day is an experience not to be found anywhere else. There are many avenues to use your individual gifts in the church. Just allow God to work in your life. |
