Mercy Medical Center – Sioux City will present Siouxland’s first Birth Expo on Oct. 29. It will be held at the Sioux City Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Siouxland Birth Expo will offer new and current parents, and future parents-to-be, a free experience to discover the wide range of resources Siouxland has to offer. This event will include opportunities for shopping, an interactive man cave workshop for dads to put together baby gadgets, car seat installation instruction and a “Mom’s Room” where new and expecting moms can relax and be pampered.
The event will also have seven scheduled professional/expert speaker presentations featuring a family therapist, a pediatrician, two obstetricians, a breast feeding consultant, an attorney and a dietician to educate families about how to care for their newborn baby and themselves.
In addition, there will be mini sessions by child safety professionals including the Sioux City Fire Department, CPR instructors, SIDS Foundation and Poison Control Center. Participants will also be able to meet with local health providers and family support agencies.
