Remsen – Senior looks to the future. Brad Roder has insight. The Remsen St. Mary senior is also articulate and expressive.  Said Father Craig Collison, the school’s chief administrator.  “He is a good writer.”

Rural life to be celebrated. Parishes in the Diocese of Sioux City will celebrate Rogation Days on May 6, 7, and 8 with special liturgies, blessings and prayers for a fruitful harvest. The diocesan Rural Life Office has sent to each parish, liturgy helps with a theme for each of the Rogation Days, a blessing to use for seeds and soil and intercessory prayers.

Vatican City – Pope Paul calls priest shortage “A very serious problem.”  During his regular Sunday appearance at his window overlooking St. Peter’s square, Pope Paul VI urged the thousands listening to him to pray for vocations to the priesthood.

Sioux City – Members of the Ave Maria Court No. 269, Catholic Daughters of America observed its annual Communion Sunday with Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church. Mrs. Mary Peterson was honored as the 1966 Catholic Daughters of America Mother of the Year. She was presented an orchid corsage by the Prophetess, Mrs. Lavonne Milarke.
