The upcoming Catholic Women of the Diocese of Sioux City convention with the theme “Breakfast with the Bishop” is a wonderful opportunity for all the women of the diocese. None of us have that invitation every day and you are invited to join this event on April 9 at Sacred Heart Church in Ida Grove.
This biennial convention for the women of the diocese will begin with registration at 7:15 a.m. and breakfast at 7:45. The Knights of Columbus will serve the meal. To enhance the focus of the day, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 9 a.m.
Bishop Walker Nickless will then address the convention at 10 a.m. As the bishop is eager to share the progress and happenings of the diocese, he is also open to questions that are pertinent to the attendees. This time will allow for that candid inquiry with understanding.
Following lunch, Father James Tigges, CWDSC spiritual advisor, will relate the past two years of growth. Mary Ann Ruether, province director for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, (the four dioceses of Iowa) in the National Council of Catholic Women, will share the recent programs and progress of the organization.
During the day, convention attendees will be able to view special table displays and participate in a unique silent auction. President Robin Corzilius has also invited everyone to bring baby diapers and wipes to be directed to the diocesan pregnancy resource centers.
The convention will pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m. with closing to follow. Sacred Heart’s vigil Mass is at 5:30 p.m.
The entire day of the convention, with all meals, are available to all women at no cost. As all women are CWDSC members, this cost is covered by your parish membership and assures your participation. However, to help with meal planning, please RSVP to Robin Corzilius at (712) 229-2586 or Lois Dunkin at (712) 367-2376 or email: email@example.com.
Officers, board members and all interested are welcome and will be gathering on Friday evening, April 8. Holy Hour will be held at 5:30 p.m., with a meal to follow. A business meeting and convention check-list will be conducted. Social time will be held at the Super 8 Motel in Ida Grove. Rooms are still available for convention participants. Call the Super 8 Motel at (712) 364-3988.
This day has been planned for you and your friends. Call your friends and certainly their friends. Bishop Nickless and all of us will be looking forward to seeing you.
As we complete our Lenten journey and experience Holy Week, we pray that you and your family have a Blessed Easter. Divine Mercy Sunday, April 3, provides another wonderful opportunity to experience the mercy of Jesus in this Year of Mercy.
On a sad note: Robin Corzilius’ father died this past week with the funeral in Correctionville. May he rest in peace. Thank you for your remembrance of my grandson Duane and his accidental death in February. Please keep us in your prayers.
