Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1: 30-33.
“The Annunciation of the Lord” by the angel to Mary was celebrated this past Lenten week. While we keep the spirit of Lent, we realize the glorious announcement of the coming of the Lord. While we journey with Mary through the stations to the crucifixion and resurrection, we also anticipate the nine months to the glorious birth of Jesus. We continue to say “Yes” as Mary did to the Annunciation, to the crucifixion. We try to follow her model as the first disciple and first teacher of prayer.
