Parishes in diocese to hold Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations

 St. Rose of Lima Parish, Denison

St. Rose of Lima Parish will celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 9 with mananitas at 6 a.m. followed by Mass at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served in the parish hall at 8 a.m. On Dec. 12 there will be Mass at 6:30 p.m.

St. Patrick Parish, Estherville

Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated on Dec. 9 with mananitas at 6 a.m. followed by 7 a.m. Mass and breakfast. At 3 p.m. there will be a social and food. On Dec. 12, Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m.

Holy Trinity Parish, Fort Dodge

To celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a 6:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Dec. 12 at Corpus Christi with a celebration afterwards in the Corpus Christi Center.

St. Mary, Hawarden

A bilingual Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Dec. 9 followed by lunch.

St. Mary, Rock Valley

On the Feast Day, Dec. 12, mananitas with Mariachi will be held at 5 p.m. with a Spanish Mass at 6 p.m. followed by a fiesta in the church basement.

St. Patrick Parish, Sheldon

Mass will be celebrated on Dec. 9 at 12:30 p.m. with a mariachi band and dancers to follow in the parish hall.

Christ the King Parish, Sioux Center

Mananitas with Mariachi will be held at 5 a.m. Dec. 12 with a Spanish Mass at 6 a.m. and breakfast to follow at 7 a.m.

Cathedral of the Epiphany, Sioux City

A rosary novena will be held from Dec. 4 to 12. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. in the church on Dec. 4-7 and Dec. 9-10. On Dec. 8 the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. On Dec. 11 a rosary will be recited at 10:45 p.m. The celebration will begin with mananitas on Dec. 11 at 11:30 p.m. On Dec. 12, a vigil will be held in the church from 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 6 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary and offering of roses at 7 p.m. Our Lady of Guadalupe praise will be at 8 p.m. There will be sweet bread and hot chocolate during the celebration hour.

St. Mary Church, Storm Lake

The St. Mary Hispanic community invites parishioners of St. Mary’s and linked churches to join in commemorating Our Lady of Guadalupe beginning Dec. 4. For nine days a rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. On Dec. 11, the traditional “Mañanitas” (serenade) will begin at 10 p.m. followed by Mass at midnight. The mariachi will play until 3 a.m. On Dec. 12, there will be a celebration starting with the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and Mass at 6 p.m. commemorating the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego, followed by a celebration in the parish center.
