Spirit Lake hosts bus trip to Christ Our Life Conference

The Spirit Lake St. Mary Catholic Daughters of the America organized a trip to the 2016 Christ Our Life Conference in Des Moines.
“Some who used this service said they could not have gone without this package,” explained Teresa Garvey of Spirit Lake.
This year the CDA wants to again assist individuals hoping to participate, but is cutting back on organizing a trip.
Instead, the organization is only arranging the round-trip bus to Des Moines and the rides to and from the motel to the Wells Fargo Arena. They will reserve a block of rooms in a motel.
“To keep the cost down, individuals would need to buy their own tickets to the conference and reserve their own rooms in the motel we reserved,” Garvey explained. “Plus, they will share the cost of the bus.
The Christ Our Life Catholic Regional Conference will be held again at the Wells Fargo Arena the weekend of Sept. 29-30.
The event – held every two years – provides world-class Catholic speakers, such as Cardinal Thomas Collins and Bishop Robert Barron, Mass each day, an adoration chapel, a Eucharistic procession, reconciliation, praise music throughout the weekend and dozens of Catholic exhibitors.
In addition, the conference has included special break-out sessions to serve various audiences, such as youth, Hispanic ministry and parish outreach.
For the first time, the conference is offering a special session for those with disabilities and/or their caretakers on Sept. 29. Also, for the first time, a breakout session will be held for Spanish-speaking individuals on Sept. 30.
Those interested in riding the CDA bus should contact Garvey immediately as an estimate is needed for the bus company and a cost can be calculated. Call (712) 898-3728 or email cjgarvey@mchsi.com.
