WEST BEND – All women seeking to find or renew their relationship with Jesus by “Taking time to be Still – to know, Open – to learn, Silent – to hear” are invited to attend a retreat in July.

The retreat is being sponsored by the Catholic Women of the Sioux City Diocese on July 14 at the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend.

“The inspiration of this retreat is to give women tools to forge a friendship with Jesus,” said Robin Corzilius, president of the Catholic Women of the Sioux City Diocese. “The Holy Spirit was ‘pestering’ me to do something for the women of the diocese. The board members of the CWSCD are always anxious to serve the women of our diocese. The women will hear talks about four women from the New Testament who had an encounter with Jesus.”

During the retreat, there will be time for prayer and reflection and sharing of ideas and experiences.

“If the weather is ‘not too hot,’ I hope the women will take advantage of the beautiful setting of the grotto,” said Corzilius.

Due to the retreat being at the grotto, there will also be a couple of activities on Friday night – music in Sts. Peter and Paul Church by Chris Pariseau starting at 7 p.m. and adoration at 8 a.m.

On Saturday, there will be a light breakfast and social time at 8 a.m. The first two talks will start at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided (freewill offering). The other two talks will be at 1 p.m.

“I have three ladies from Holy Name in Marcus and one from Granville who will be our presenters,” said Corzilius. “These women are just ordinary women that have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to be our presenters. I am so excited to have our parish women presenting to other parish women.”

The speakers will delve into the lives of four women of the New Testament.

“The saints past and those in the making have great insight as to what these four women have to tell us,” said Corzilius. “We will be putting ourselves into the story and then see how we can relate that to our everyday lives.”

Corzilius is praying that another parish will be “inspired” to host a retreat like this next year.

“There is a lot of wisdom and inspiration to be gleaned from the women in the pew,” she said. “Everyone can be a presenter. You just need to be open to the stirring of the Holy Spirit.”

The day’s activities will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Father James Tigges, the spiritual advisor for the Catholic Women of the Sioux City Diocese, will celebrate Mass at 4 p.m.

“Faith can be so fragile,” said Corzilius. “We need the support of a community, of other women. Come and see how much you can grow in your faith, in your relationship with Jesus and in your relationship with other women.”

There is no cost for the retreat other than the freewill offering for lunch. There is camping available; Parkview Inn in West Bend, as well as hotels in nearby towns, may be an option for those wishing to attend both days.

Those planning the retreat would appreciate RSVPs for the lunch count. RSVP by email at weadorethee@hotmail.com.
