I am now 25 weeks pregnant with Baby Borkowski. The fact that I am pregnant is definitely still surreal and unbelievable for me. I think for so long I didn’t know for sure if I would ever get pregnant that it still hasn’t set in that I am. The realness might not truly set in until I am holding Baby Borkowski in my arms in September.
In reality, because of the awesomeness of ultrasounds, I do know that the baby is inside me and is doing quite well.
My last doctor’s appointments were a couple weeks ago when I was 23 weeks along. I have been seeing an OB in Sioux City, who is wonderful. Unfortunately, I have now had my last appointment with Dr. Kathy LaFavor at Siouxland Women’s Health. She and her nurse, Danielle, have helped me through the whole process of getting pregnant and being pregnant so far. I am truly going to miss them! However, since I don’t live in Sioux City anymore, I will now be switching to an OB in Carroll. I have my first appointment with the new doctor in a couple weeks.
Since I have a high risk pregnancy, I have also been seeing Dr. Al Fleming, a perinatologist, at UnityPoint Clinic – Maternal Fetal Medicine in Sioux City. He and his staff are pretty awesome and very welcoming.
It is in this office that I go through the ultrasound process. FASCINATING!! It is amazing what the ultrasound tech and Dr. Fleming can see in an ultrasound. They measure everything from the bones to the brain to the stomach to the ventricles of the heart. From all of the this they can tell me the weight (at 23 weeks – 1.4 pounds), length and health of the baby. I am right on track for delivery in September. The ultrasound makes things much more real and I get to see Baby Borkowski moving around.
When Rodney, my husband, and I were in Omaha recently, we took time to register for baby items. This was an overwhelming process with so many items to choose from.
With this being our first baby, we didn’t know for sure which bottles, pacifiers, diapers and so on and so on to register for. We took our time and luckily Target has a checklist to go from so we tried not to forget anything. It was fun to imagine using all the baby items in a few short months with the little one.
Thankfully I have a sister-in-law in Omaha and two in Manning who are willing to host baby showers for us. I am excited to see friends and family at the two showers.
In kind of a whirlwind this past Sunday, Rodney and I were able to acquire some baby furniture from acquaintances in Carroll. We now have a crib, changing station, glider with ottoman and swing for Baby Borkowski. This makes things VERY real!!
Other friends in the Carroll area have offered gently used baby clothes, toys, nursing items and other baby related gear.
I am so grateful for all of the people who have offered items to us as well as prayers and support throughout this whole pregnancy. I can’t imagine going through this without all of the family and friends surrounding us.
Thank you for reading! I will be back soon with another update as well as an update on the garden. I will be praying for all of you! Have a blessed day!
