Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am happy to announce that next year The Catholic Globe and Canterbury Pilgrimages & Tours are collaborating on a pilgrimage, Jan. 21-28, 2019, to Panama City, Panama, to celebrate World Youth Day. I am grateful that Father David Esquiliano, a priest of the Diocese of Sioux City who is fluent in Spanish, will serve as the chaplain on this trip.
Canterbury will be sending posters and brochures to all of the parishes in the Diocese of Sioux City to disseminate information about the trip.
I am writing today to ask for your help with the following:
- Commit to spreading the word by encouraging young people to participate
- Point out the many graces and blessings that flow from the pilgrimage – not to mention the joy it will bring our young people to be in the presence of so many other like-minded Catholics and our Holy Father Pope Francis.
- Perhaps you participated in World Youth Day in Denver – or another World Youth Day – and may recall that impact on your life. Be an advocate by promoting this pilgrimage.
- Please pray for all of the World Youth Day pilgrims that their journey may be a safe and successful one.
With every best wish and looking forward to a powerful faith experience for the young people of the Diocese of Sioux City, I remain,
Your brother in Christ,
Most Reverend R. Walker Nickless
Bishop of Sioux City
